Berwick Cougars Rally Cap Program This year we are introducing the Berwick Cougars Rally Cap Program. This is a program that identifies levels of skill which the kids will be evaluated against a few times throughout the season to determine their progress. There is no pressure and each child is expected to go at their own pace. That said, implementing this type of program has shown previously that the children become more engaged and excited to work on skills as they progress through each level. Given baseball is a sport that is not a dominant part of the Australian sporting landscape, this program also provides parents a guide of the basic activities that they can play with their T ballers in their own back yard. If you have any questions or concerns about the program or your child please don't hesitate to contact me.

Coaching While the four Head Coaches for each team are already in place, there is plenty of room for additional assistance from the parent group. Please take some active involvement in the games, even if you have little knowledge or experience – that doesn't matter – the type of assistant coaches required are outlined below.
Base Coach – here an adult stands next to 1 st base and another at 3 rd base and acts as the director of traffic. New T ballers don't know where to run when they hit the ball and often times don't pay attention when they need to advance to the next base. The base coach's duty is to simply encourage the children to run to the right base. This role can be played for the entire game, or just for the half of the inning while your team bats, so it is not a big commitment.
Field Coach - here an adult stands out in the field and ensures the kids are standing in the right spot for their position. The coach is really there to provide general encouragement and support among the kids. This role can be played for the entire game, or just for the half of the inning while your team fields, so it is not a big commitment.
Bench Monitor - when your team is up to bat, the kids can become a bit unruly and disorganised without proper supervision. As the head coach is generally assisting the batter in hitting the ball, it is extremely helpful to have an adult lining the kids up in order on the bench and helping to keep the games running smoothly.
General Assistance – with drills and games it is always helpful to have an extra adult assisting in the activity. This is a good way to learn more about the game and advance in line with your child's emerging skills. The more you engage with the team, the more likely your child will enjoy the sport and continue to pursue it into the future.
