PRESIDENTS MESSAGE - March 2009

Hi everyone,

Saturday's Ladies Day was a HUGE day. We had just over 100 Ladies in attendance and from all reports, a great day was had by all with many continuing into the evening with the DJ playing. Thank you to everyone who supported the event and those that donated prizes. A special thank you to Lisa Speirs, Gill Gavin & Robyn Surtees for their organisation of the event, Matt Kennedy & Leo Hemmes for the game music and MC duties and Rob Printz for his DJ services.

We are very pleased to advise that we raised just over $1,300 for the McGrath foundation on the day - a great effort.

Not only was it a great day for the spectators, but the Firsts also had a win which earnt them 2nd spot and the double chance going into finals this weekend.

Sunday was the first weekend of finals and we had four teams participating, all in elimination games.
Little League State had a great victory, leading all day and this week faces Waverley at Waverley at 9am this Sunday
Little League Metro had a fantastic win, after giving up the lead and coming back in the last innings. This week they face Cheltenham at Cheltenham at 9am this Sunday

Under 16 State unfortunately couldn't get over the line in a tight game. Most of these boys are bottom age Under 16's so will be back next year to have another crack. They had a great season.

Seniors Reserves were starting to get on top but a controversial umpiring decision swung the momentum away from them and unfortunately they couldn't stay in the contest. Again though, a fantastic effort to get into the finals with so many juniors in that squad.

So all members, get out early on Sunday morning and head down to Cheltenham or Waverley to cheer on the boys as they fight for a spot in the Grand Final.

Seniors Firsts - This week is the first round of finals for the Firsts and the Cougars will go head to head against Springvale at Springvale at 1.30pm this Sunday for a place in the Grand Final. Our boys have beaten Springvale twice this season so go into the game with confidence. We would love to see as many supporters as possible at this game. Lets out number their supporters and make lots of noise to help the boys get over the line. I would suggest you bring your own chairs.
