Round 5 - Berwick Vs. Blackburn.

Round 4 - Berwick 7 def. Malvern 2. The biggest effort of the day was from our groundstaff to get the field in a state to play on. In soggy conditions we showed some signs of improvement and learnt some lessons about base running and taking direction from base coaches that will hold us in good stead in close games. Hard to say to much other than we worked hard and had some solid lessons from this game played in terrible conditions. Highlights: Stubbs at first and Woody at home were absolute walls for us, letting nothing past all day. Many of the roster found their swing with the bat and had some good hits. Conor doing a great job from the mound, pitching all but the last dig to lead us to the win. Josh doing a great “Unabomber” impersonation at first base coach, wait….he’s American…the pieces all fit.

Round 3 - Berwick 2 lost to Cheltenham 10. A short pre season really told today when after a strong start from Stubbs on the mound we lost momentum and didn’t show the effort needed to compete at this level. We gave Chelt some opportunity and this game quickly became a tale of what could have been. Highlights: Stubbs strong start and a big effort from Kyle on the mound to close out the rest of the game Adam with two hits to centre.

Round 2 - Berwick 7 def. Melbourne 6. We welcome Josh to Australian shores with an untidy win over Melbourne. After losing Clarky in the second dig to injury, Damo pitches before Conor “Rivera” Morgan closes out the game under significant pressure. Highlights were: Pooley, Stubbs, Dyl and Adam hadn’t lost their swing in the off season, all finding hits. Josh Shane knocking in the game winning run. Pooley closing out the game in a play from short with loaded bases to protect the win.
