Another mid week game saw us travel to Altona to take on the Wolves, and after a close defensive game with not a lot of hits from both sides, saw us take the game 2-1. Josh started the game on the hill and threw for 5 1/2 innings, striking out 6 Williamstown hitters not allowing any earned runs. Matt Chilcott relieved in the last 1 1/2 inning to get the save. Shaun Fahy once again in the lead-off spot got 2 hits for the game and singles to Matt, Josh, Nick and Turtle. A lot of positives came from this game tonight, our intensity was up and some of the younger inexperienced 1sts players competed extremely well.

The highlight of our hitting was from our coach, Mouse who muscled up, and put one over the left field fence. Also, debutante David "Turtle" Mulhall, who came into the game in the 9th inning and with runners on 2nd & 3rd base, hit a chopper hard into the ground and bounced over the 2nd basemans head, who at the time was fielding up to save runs, into right field to score 2 very valuable runs. Round 14 - Berwick 2 def Waverley Wildcats 1. Well.... what a game, in what could only be described as a dogfight, both pitchers were on fire in a very defensive game. Being down 1-0 at the bottom of the 9th, with a bit of luck and stringing a couple of hits together, we came away with a hard fought 2-1 win. Nick Veale started the game on the hill and showed his class in his 7 innings of pitching striking out 8 Waverley hitters, only allowing the solitary run. Our batting was consistant throughout the whole, with the coach leading from the front with 4 hits for the game and scoring 2 runs also, good game Mouse. Josh also got into the hits with 3 of his own including one giant 3 run home run that saw the ball land half way up the Cypress tree in right field. A welcome back to form from the Moona, with 2 hits and singles going to Dan, Shaun, Matt, Nick, Craig and 1sts debutant, Cain Hillier. Round 11 - Berwick 10 def. Moorabin 0. After such a wet and horrible Saturday, we didn't know what to except on our arrival at Moorabin, but much to our surprise the ground was in perfect condition except for some surface water in the outfield. In a tight game for the first 3 or 4 innings, accompanied with a few Moorabin fielding errors and some close umpiring decisions, our bats came alive and came away with a 10-0 win after 7 innings. Josh started the game on the mound and threw extremely well for 7 innings in his 3rd shut-out game for the season. In his 102 pitch outing, he struck out 10 Moorabin batters and only allowing just the 2 hits for the game. It would have been the play off the century if it was a fair ball, well done Deano.
