Berwick Cougars U16 team continues its excellent season with now 7 straight wins from as many games. This is a team that not only plays good solid baseball but thrives on team work and defines the meaning of “team mates”.
The last couple of weeks have been a great opportunity to have players try different positions and experiment a little with new plays and still come up with strong wins. There have been a couple of close wins as well for the team which were won on pure determination, positive thinking and team work.
Coming up to the season break, all the players are keen to keep a clean slate until then but will need to play well against a highly placed team we are yet to see. We will continue to work on different positions for the players to increase their experience and also see some of our players getting experience in the “senior” thirds with two more joining the fold after their birthdays and showing some good form in the training of our own and with the seniors. I am sure these younger players will bring their positive outlook into the seniors and show how strong the clubs future looks.
Keep up the hard work 16's

The Under 14 State team played Doncaster at home on the week-end and unfortunately were convincingly beaten 19 - 1. Doncasters batting was far superior out-hitting us 15 hits to 2. Concentration lapses cost us dearly, but a positive was the good batting and fielding performance from John King, with 2 safe hits, showed us why he is in the VPBL side this year.

Round 7 Update - Currently 5th
U/12’s State team played against Sandringham on the 26/11/06. With Cameron Gibbens with his first hit for the season, and it was a great hit too. There was a few great hits by all the kids today which give us a great first innings with scoring 5 runs.
Jesse Gavin had a great pitching game today with shutting them down for 3 innings with only scoring 1 run, with some awesome fielding by the team to back him up, and some great catching by Ryan Bromley.
Sean Woolums came in and relieved Jesse giving up 4 runs but he pitched a good game, Sandringham had a few great hits which scored the runs, the final score was 10 to 5 with a nice win to Berwick.
