A message from the President…..

Just an update on a few things coming up as the season draws to a close.

Road to the finals
This weekend sees the final round of matches for all teams except the men's firsts who play their last game on the Ladies Day. As it stands, we have no teams guaranteed a finals spot, however the Under 14 Grey, Under 18 and Men's 3rds are all still in the hunt but need a victory this weekend so sew up a spot. The Under 14 State team are still a mathematical chance but need to rely on other results falling their way (pretty still if they don't make it, only losing 5 games for the season!!!).

Keep an eye on the website ( www.berwickcitycougars.com ) late next week for details of who has made it and where/when they are playing so you can get out there and cheer them on in the finals.

Tball Tournament - Saturday 16th February
The Cougars are entering our first ever team in the VBA Tball tournament. A squad of 15 will be playing at Ferntree Gully (previously advised Cheltenham so please note the change). They will be decked out in brand new tops so shouldn't be hard to miss. If you get a chance to get out there to cheer them on, I am sure they would appreciate it. Any queries please contact Gill Gavin on 0412 553 951.

Tball and Domestic Under 12 - Final Games and Presentation Day - Saturday 23rd February (morning)
The Tball teams will play their final games for the season followed by the lightening premiership finals of the Under 12 competition (all games normal times). The final round of qualifying matches for the under 12's happens this weekend (16th) with the Yellow team up against the Grey Team and Red against Blue. The presentation day will see 1st v 2nd playing off for the premiership with 3rd and 4th playing off in the consolation event.

Following their games on the 23rd, all players will be presented with medallions.

Ladies Day - Saturday 23rd February - 2pm - 6.30pm
Please ensure you purchase your tickets this weekend as we need to finalise numbers for catering purposes. Just a reminder, a $30 ticket provides you with beer, wine (yes that includes champagne), juice, softdrinks, hot and cold finger food, beauticians doing nails and makeup touch ups, fake tattoo's, a gift bag, door prizes and entry into the 'Ladies Only' marquee. Of course you are free to wander around as you like, however the marquee will only be for the ladies.

The men and children are all welcome on the day, however they will just have the usual canteen facilities. The men's firsts team (only) will be playing their final Home & Away game of the season against St Kilda who they have beaten twice this season. It looks like we will have a City of Casey councillor in attendance, possibly even the mayor, so we want to have as many people in attendance as we can.

There will be a DJ in the clubrooms in the evening for those that want to kick on into the night.

Working Bee - Thursday 21st February - 6pm onwards
In preparation for our Ladies Day, we are having our working bee a little early to tidy up the ground and the surrounds before the day. If you are able to assist, please come down and if you have some gardening tools, bring them along (wheelbarrow, rakes, shovels etc).

Junior (Sunday teams) Presentation Night - Friday 22nd February - 7pm - ????
All of our junior Sunday teams are invited to the clubrooms on this night for trophy presentations. Note that this does not include dinner, however light refreshments will be provided.

Club Presentation Night - Friday 29th February - 7pm - ????
Our Club Presentation Night is open to all club members and their families. This will be a great night at the Fountain Gate Hotel. Tickets should be pre-purchased for catering purposes by Saturday 23rd. Tickets are $35 for Adults, $25 for Under 18 and $10 for Under 12's. This includes a two course meal (Under 12's get Nuggets and chips and ice cream) and we will have a DJ pumping out the tunes. We would love to see our Tball and junior players and families there.

Gippsland Championships - April 5 & 6 - Traralgon
The Cougars will be out to defend their title this year, with what look like another strong side competing in the championships. Those senior players interested in playing, please let me know.

Any queries regarding any of the above, please feel free to contact me.

Paul Quinn
